Welcome back all.
⚓️ Port main starter motor died on week one. Has been changed out with a reconditioned starter, no issues since.
⚓️ Port & stb engine room bilges have been degreased hosed down and vacuumed out.
⚓️ All maintenance checks are up to date.
⚓️ Genset has a intermittent starting fault, it starts then shuts down within seconds and shows fault code on panel. When fault code appears press the OK button to remove fault then try to restart. You might have to repeat the process a couple times. MRF submitted and maintenance are aware of issue. Genset serviced week two. Still waiting on new cap for expansion tank. ⚓️ Self Audits, Crews are being asked to complete the vessels self audit around the start of each swing so it's updated roughly every 3 weeks. This doesn't have to be completed by both crew only one crew per swing. We have made it day shifts job. Willie found a few issues with JG but overall pretty happy. There were some certificates missing in SMS which have now been updated. The main one was some of JG's mooring lines. One being lines not being substantial size and secondly was the condition of some lines. I did let him know we have been waiting for rope on stores order. All lines that are forward or aft springers are to be a minimum of 32mm. The stern line @ GL4 is to be a running line as per SMS, vessel not to have 3 fixed lines. We have replaced the bow & stern lines at GL3, and replaced the aft spring @ GL4. Willie has asked me to put the above in my handover notes for you guys and if you have a questions in regards to the lines please give him a call to discuss. There is now some spare 32mm line in port forward void. ⚓️ Willie is still chasing up EPIRB renewal cert for the wheelhouse EPIRB. We still have the float free EPIRB on the aft and certificate in sms for it.
⚓️ Compass checks, I've found that the compass and deviation checks are out compared to my last swing.
⚓️ Have submitted a few MRF,S. Leaking cabin windows Stb side back two. 24dc to 12dc reducer for GPS heading compass/antenna network. Compass error. Stb main heat shroud. Port main lacking power when powering up.
⚓️ Plotter position dropping out, the heading compass/gps antenna has been randomly dropping out. In under the dash roughly inline with port side vhf there is a 24v dc to 12v dc reducer that powers up the network for the simrads. It shows a red light for 24v going in and a green light for 12v coming out. The green light should be shining bright but it seems to be dropping voltage on the 12v side and the green light won't be as bright. There is a on off switch on the bottom of the reducer. Flick it off and on and it has been rebooting the network. Gavin from modern marine has a new one on order. I'll take a photo of reducer and leave in pictures so you know what to look for.
⚓️ Mask wearing on Torresian please refer to email.
⚓️ Blue chair to stay onboard and to be utilised on aft deck if you need to transport anyone with flu like symptoms.
⚓️ Gas Detectors serviced. The fixed detector in wheelhouse has alarmed once since service.
⚓️ Please check flagged emails.
⚓️ Stores have been ordered. ⚓️ Old rechargeable torch is back. Willie took the brick back.
I think I've covered everything hope you all have a good swing. Regards Shane.
