Hi all,
Have a great swing with the new engines, they are running beautifully!
Unfortunately, the office was closed over the Easter weekend so there are a few loss ends. Could you plase follow up on the follow. See email sent on the 31/03/21 titled Self Audit check list.
*The Fire fighting equipment has been stamped in March 2021 but the paperwork onboard is from the October inspection. I have requested for a copy of the most recent paperwork to be placed in our pigeon hole.
* I have requested an update on the paper chart situation. Do we need to order new charts?
* Ive also asked if we have anyone available to make changes to the SMS regarding our new engines no longer being keel cooled?
The tag and testing iwas due on the 6/4/21 and again Easter had things ticking over on public holiday schedule.
The new engines are amazing! Don't forget to check water discharge on both mains and the Genset at each start up. When starting main engines please start Port first before you turn key on Stbd.
There is an MRF 6566 in for a small oil leak from the hose fitting into the oil cooler on the Stbd main engine. Shaun is aware of this leak and there is a soaker pad down. Other than this there are no oil or coolant leaks in sight. Coolant needs to be checked on sight gauge at front of header tank. Main engine oil is still clear and has not required any topping up. There is a 20 litre drum of 10w40 onboard please ensure you only use this oil.
There is an MRF 6563 in for the shore power lflashing light, MRF 6550 Stbd aft door lock has been fixed but may need to have locking mechanism replaced if it starts playing up again & MRF 6565 for Stbd aft aircon.
There was a small raw water leak in the Stbd fire fighting system on the out put side of the pump but I have tightened the hose clamps and believe this has fixed the leak.
Shaun has asked that we don't try to bleed, adjust or touch the common rail fuel system because it is under enormous pressure and would be dangerous. Shaun has also asked that we do not open the cap on the Genset coolant system as this will drop the pressure out of the heat exchanger, only add coolant at the expansion tank. The Genset battery isolator is now on the Port side along with an extraction fan. The Genset strainer is in Void Port 1. Confirmed space and the maintenance team will clean once a week. The Genset is still using 15w40 oil which is in the small dispenser, I have order a new sticker for this dispenser to state Genset oil.
The main engine battery bank now only has one isolator for both the Port and Stbd battery. The two batteries on the Port side of this compartment are the main battery and the two on the Stbd side are now the emergency bank. House bank has not changed.
