Your probably well aware of the oil leak from the port main engine. It’s been this way for a year at least I’m told. Because the engines are getting a lot more run time than normal, the bilge needs to be cleaned every couple of days (pull out soaker pads and replace with fresh ones) if you leave it more than a few days the pads will literally be swimming in oil and it is a lot larger job to clean up. It’s messy anyway but staying on top of this is the key.
Port main obviously dropping a lot of oil so needs to be topped up about every 3 days, we have only been filling the oil to half, on the dipstick. There is a full drum of oil in the port engine room so remember to order a new one before it gets too low!!
Stores have been ordered, a new box of soaker pads too. Also a tape measure to be left on board.
Mains and Genset serviced 4/12
There are still a few MRFs outstanding that will need to be signed off when completed.
There are a few changes to the SMS that are currently getting reviewed and completed with Graeme, MOB, bunkering, shore power, and anchoring are all getting updated so you might have to sign off on these and put them in the sms when ready.
Just a reminder that 40% sullage is full, 50% water is full. Sullage needs to be done about every 3 days (bit of a pain, but it fills up quick!)
When bunkering high flow works perfect, the gauge does jump from 85% to full in a flash so keep an eye on it, we have been reducing the flow of fuel to half way on the lever when fuel level gets to 80-85%. There is an active MOC in at the moment for fuel gauges to be mounted at the filling point to make bunkering compliant as there can’t be any crew at the fuel shut off point (wharf) when filling which is a Bailies/SeaLink requirement. In the mean time we have the deckhand at the filler point and the master watching the gauges in the wheelhouse.
Not telling you how to drive the boat but I have been keeping it under 1800 rpm, otherwise it spits a lot more oil out, when I don’t have pax I cruise on around 1650-1700 and if I need to get going 1800. Still drops a shit load of oil haha but the hotter it gets oviosly the thinner the oil gets so at higher revs it pours out!
The first aid kit is out of date but the office will contact you with a time to swap it out, as long as it’s done in December it’s all good.
The sandwich maker and toaster off BK is on Caniapa.(wheelhouse)
Have a good swing, let’s hope BK gets back in the water soon!! Merry Xmas y’all ! 🌲⭐️🍺🍾
