<p>Greetings Ross and Glenn,</p> <p>There is quite a bit to report so I have divided this handover into three sections; the good, the bad and the ugly.</p> <p>The Good:</p> <ol> <li>Boat came off slip mid last week with repainted hull and new vinyl wrap. Some hull plating was replaced and the tunnel was painted. Jet units were rebuilt with new hydraulic power pack in the starboard side and port side to be reconditioned. All is running fine machinery wise and the boat is running very efficiently and cutting the water nicely. If you’re running with the tide 25kts comes up quick! Stbd hydraulic oil is very, very clear. You’ll need a tear off of blue rag to check it in the morning.</li> <li>We’ve tried to handover as full of fuel and fresh as possible and empty sullage.</li> <li>All MPM is back up to date and logged on DataWeb.</li> <li>All the usual jobs have been done. Please let us know of any issues.</li> <li>Shouldn’t be any urgent stores / engineering supplies. We have an extra scrubbing brush on order and some good 3M polish coming (more about that later). Probably order some Metho this week. See how much you get through.</li> <li>Charts checked start of swing. Haven’t looked since.</li> <li>See flagged emails. Nothing too interesting, just some FYIs.</li> <li>Oxley is still working Clinton Coal Wharves and will generally call a no wash that will affect your 0700 run and maybe the 0620ish on demand run in the morning and then finishes around 1500. AP4 no wash is still happening but isn’t of effect.</li> <li>Try the product in the roof in rectangular bucket with SDS’s on the strainers. I like it, Kimmo seeking feedback as a replacement for Drifter.</li> <li>Fitted lanyard to second fire bucket for survey.</li> <li>GL4 outside berth gangway was taken to the slip and had repairs done to the lower joins. You will see the fresh aluminium.</li> <li>We are temporarily berthed where we are to avoid the wrath of the mighty spur winged plovers. 🦅 </li> <li>MRF in for new rubber seals on Genset case. (#5319). Kimmo is sourcing some good closed cell stuff.</li> <li>Following Willie’s email 19/11/19 I’ve ordered some 32mm line to replace the temporary berth forward spring with a longer better one, the aft spring and stern lines should be okay with 28mm. Lines on outside berth GL4 are okay, GL3 bow and stern lines are close to replacement. 15m of 28mm ordered as well as 11m of 32mm for the forward spring in the marina which when we move we can use elsewhere.</li> </ol> <p>The Bad:</p> <ol> <li>We have had an issue with sullage gauge showing itself as full / 100% when it is empty. Sensor issue. MRF submitted. The plumbing throughout the vessel was replaced on slip. May be related? Been pumping every weekend and no issues.</li> <li>The boat, when it came off the slip, was, in a word – atrocious. There was that much garnet residue throughout the cabin, all over the seats, wheelhouse, engine rooms (along with metal shavings and hydraulic oil), that I’m still finding a bit here and there so sorry if we’ve missed any. Shaun onboard and had hydraulic lines off on port side unit today (19/11/19) - have wiped the spilt fluid off the unit and most out of bilge. Soaker pads down there to do their thing with the remainder.</li> <li>VERY IMPORTANT: Nozzle / steering angle sensor / feedback indicator on dash is not reading correctly. If you clutch in and have the helm in neutral position the boat will turn to port. There is a high priority MRF in for a jet tune but we need a very calm day with little to no wind to do it properly. Maintenance is aware of the issue. The black tape I have put on the helm, when upright / at “12 o’clock”, will steer the boat straight. Drive and park on this, not the indicator…!</li> <li>VERY IMPORTANT #2: The ladders down the engine rooms have been repositioned so that it is very difficult to swing the valves daily and also there is not much to stand on and you also will find you’ll either kick the fire alarms or you won’t get your foot in far enough where they protrude and almost slip off the ladder. Please take care when going down there. I would like to know your thoughts to approach management about it. I’d love to see the MOC for the modification (if it was done…?).</li> <li>Hamilton Jet Registration error still hasn’t been remedied. You will note on start up. We also had an error come up on the port jet nozzle “STEER STUCK J1” on the 1540 departure yesterday (18/11/19). I switched to back ups for a moment to check controls then back to the sticks and no issue. This should be related to the need to complete the jet tune. Have been told by maintenance to monitor and report any reoccurrence.</li> </ol> <p style="margin-left:18.0pt">The Ugly:</p> <ol> <li>You would be very surprised to know that in the last week the boat has been scrubbed 3 times over. (Wait till you see it in the day light!) Contractors blasted and sprayed the boat from bare hull with primer, undercoat and antifoul on very windy days. There is overspray on every quarter of the boat (and on the outside of the windows!) and there is also damage to the bow shoulders that has been caused by a heavy duty tarp rubbing on it. We got the starboard side looking okay but port we have polished the main marks twice to get to where it is. We got the roof pretty clean with stiff, close bristled brooms and a lot of hard yakka.</li> <li>The boat sat on the slip for a month with every Tom, Dick and Harry working on it and the garnet was not washed off and this, combined with coal dust, has attached to the overspray and stuck to the hull. It is very disappointing. Check out the anchor and bow!</li> <li>Last week I convinced Kimmo to organised some 3M single stage cut,polish and wax compound that hasn’t arrived as yet (had to order in). It's great stuff I've used before. Planning on using the buffer from slip to do whole boat as I don’t know what else will get it off. Feel free to make a start.
