To whichever Masters that will fill in on the opposite swing please:
-please ensure that the crew scrubbes down the vessel once a week, due to several casuals crew that filled in the last swing the vessel was handed over in a pretty poor state. Don’t scrub the roof because the vinyl colour comes off while scrubbing and stains all the windows.
-please keep up to date the whiteboard on the engineer side and the one behind the couch in the wheelhouse with all the checks due dates and things that are about to expire or need servicing.
-please make sure that after using the tender the crew lifts up the arm tiller so that during voyages it doesn’t hit on the cradle and bends the gear lever. Do not tie up the engine to the boat so that this is readily accessible in an emergency. A sticker has been put on the engine to remind crew of this.
-please make sure crew DOESN’T use Mr. Sheen to clean the windows.
-mop and scrub was taken off the vessel after checking seeing that it’s a chemical that should not be disposed of in the waterway, Rob hasn’t got back to me yet, see email sent to him and Graham on the 07/08/2019. We had an Audit on on the 08/08/2019 and we got instructed by Rob to take it off the vessel.
-can we please keep the stores orders to a minimum of what we really need, every time I come back on swing the cupboard is absolutely chockers (just an expample: we had 10-15 spray cans of glen20 or eucalyptus spray or 3x5 litres bottle of portasol and so on) I’m happy to have a few spares but maybe not as many?
-just for your info, we have been conducting life jacket drills every Tuesday and Friday, pax are asked to donn a lifejacket randomly, we pick one pax for each section and we get them to do it as soon as we depart GL3 while still moving at slow speed behind RG Tanna. One day we had it done on the 0630 departure, the next time on the 0835 and the one after on the 1730 and we keep rotating this.
-the EPIRB was replaced during my last swing on, the registration documents were filled out and Willie submitted the but we still don’t have a copy onboard, the one that’s in the SMS is for the old one. I have sent an email out to Graeme on Monday and he still couldn’t find it, we might have to chase it up when Willie is back.
-all charts are up to date, last checked on 05/08/2019
-still waiting on certificate for the unirail system
-safety harnesses getting serviced
Have a good swing,
Ale
