Handover notes 27/10/15 Nathan Raphael Dayshift
* joined vessel 19/10/15 filling in for Phil Michell for 9 days, please see handover notes from Phil, it appears these were done prior to leaving vessel as first aid kit was onboard as well as port main issues completed prior to me joining vessel.
* Stbd main engine - have raised 2 x MRFs, one for thermostat as it is not opening until temperature reaches approx. 84 degrees, the other being turbo o ring dislocated at charge air housing resulting in 0.5 bar loss of boost. Please note that had alarm on blue arrow panel 26/10/15 whilst at cruising speed for 20 mins, alarm indicating oil level in hydraulics level too high or too low? This alarm went away after 2 mins, investigated and levels ok nothing to report since
* have been operating vessel at 2150 rpm thereabouts temps running under 80 degrees
* MRF raised for missing metal thread on Stbd Genset exhaust temp switch
* was advised that shore based maintenance coming down when I spoke to them when I joined vessel to service port Genset, I requested new top up drum for hydraulic oil as it was empty when I joined vessel. Requested small container of diesel to drain off both main engine fuel filter separators as they have an amount of contaminant in clear bowl. The backup filters are clean if you need to changeover. After conversing with Ritchie he seems to get held up with other tasks so I haven't sighted him yet, you might have to chase things up as I am leaving vessel.
* fire system due 24/10/15 apparently all is in hand.
* new casual deckhand joined vessel 26 + 27 October Michael Nelson-Smith for training and drills will be on nightshift with Ian Walker 28/10/15
* have placed tag lines on fixed eyes as requested on 6/10/15 as per emails. Continued scroll down.
* have attached lanyard to emergency bilge pump so it can be lowered and retrieved from voids or saltwater whichever the case.
* tightened deck hatches S2 + S3
* please read emails carefully whilst you have been away and sign off where requested
* have ordered new fender for aft end at CP3 as the other one is cut and u/s. Please see sent items in email
* as I have done 9 days only I don't know the vessel as good as crew that were permanent but apparently the vibration experienced when steaming is considered normal? I back flushed the jets and vibration still apparent?
* there are a few stores on back order, so check out previous stores orders prior to ordering again. Regards Nathan Raphael
Otherwise all good. Enjoy
