Greetings Ross,
I hope you're keeping well and are rested up for the swing ahead.
A fairly routine swing has been had by myself and Ryan with a few items to note.
1. There is a family day on for Santos this coming weekend on Sunday the 9th. I dare say that Canaipa crew will take the boat for the runs as they did for us. See flagged email from Willie. Also note there are 10 childrens lifejackets in the roof where the cleaning chemicals are kept for this day. They will need to be returned to the Slipway / Office after Sunday.
2. Inside berth at GL4 is barricaded off with safety tape for family days. This cannot be used till after the 9th.
3. Oxley no wash at CCF3 still happening most weekdays from circa 0705 till 1525 or thereabouts.
4. Heaps of flagged emails for your reading enjoyment.
5. All usual jobs completed over weekends and handover clean completed. Let us know of any areas for improvement please mate.
6. Starboard main is starting to run at 86 degrees at 70-80% load which may be indicative of an issue building in the cooling system. It should run at 85 consistently when at 90% load. Maintenance have been informed. Please monitor for any degradation / change. Also please note that oil leak was found all around the new sump. Bolts have been tightened by Shaun and we cleaned / degreased the engine prior to handover and fitted new soaker pads. Please keep an eye on it throughout the swing and liaise with Shore Based Maintenance to see that the leak gets addressed.
7. New lights fitted in wheelhouse... they are nice and bright.
8. New pads fitted to AED on 2/6/19 by Medic.
9. First Aid Kit inspection is overdue. Cindy has either been flooded in or we have needed it onboard for operations. There is a 2 week grace period so this needs to be attended to ASAP. See flagged email sent to Cindy.
10. All MPM up to date and all machinery and electrics okay at handover.
11. Charts updated to NTM Edition 10. See Memo flagged in emails regarding Chart Corrections.
12. There are a few SMS amendments. Please note that we have a nominal seated capacity of 149 made up of 114 seats inside, 19 outside and 8 on each engine room hatch as per the General Arrangement. We have been getting close to this number some days. RHM requires all passengers to be seated (Source: G. Austin) so even though our survey is for 200 plus 2 crew, 149 is maximum without Sealink Management approval as stated in SMS. See my emails to and from Management.
13. New fire hose to replace old one (slightly longer).
14. New vessel phone. James Grant’s phone broke so we gave them ours to use and now we have a new one. Very exciting news.
15. On Friday (7/6/19) on the 1740 run, Russel the medic will have an empty (discharged) BA oxygen bottle to bring over. As this is below 2 bar, under the UN DG code, it is not a dangerous good and we can carry it. I also passed this by Willie via phone and he okayed it too. Just an FYI. It will be in a green / turquoise plastic container.
Fuel not quite as full as I like to hand over as James Grant crew needed to borrow the best boat in the fleet yesterday...
That's all that comes to mind for now mate. As always happy to chat about any of the above.
Best regards and safe swing,
Tony (& Ryan).
