Hi John,
boat wasn’t looked after properly for a while and as you can imagine a lot of things required attention.
I didn’t had much time to do a proper change over between the Spirit and this one, I’ve only been told late last week about the swap and the weekend I was working on Parangool and my crew was at the slipway working on Torresian.
We did our best to get the things we needed but we missed a few things.
All maintenance checks have been brought up to date.
See flagged email about “Safety embarching/disembarking and use of mobiles” 23/03/2019.
Several MRF’s have been put in, it’ll be just easier for you to have a look trough them and see what is outstanding.
We took all handheld radios from Spirit and swapped them with this boat for the time being as instructed by Willie, just to make sure we had properly working radios. From Spirit we also took over the DEFIBRILLATOR and 3 crew life jackets. All this things including the radios will have to return to Spirit if you get the boat back in time for your swing.
I did forget to take the gas detector and the safety harnesses from Spirit.
Boat runs ok to about 2000-2100 rpms, above that engine temperatures start rising, she is slowly starting to get to a better speed, the first couple of days we were only getting 16-17 knots with the tide in favour. Sometimes we get a fairly strong vibration, it’s not there all the time, engineers believe it has something to do with all the barnacles inside the jet units, apparently is pretty bad.
Aircons are not as good as Spirit as you can imagine..and we need to run both generators all day to keep up with them.
Compass is waaaay out of whack, I’m getting 16-17 degrees error, I’ve put an MRF in to be swung.
The wheelhouse aircon unit was in really poor condition, the amount of mould that was growing in it was revolting, I did my best to clean it out as much as I could reach, I’ve put an MRF in to get them all pulled apart and cleaned professionally. Only wheelhouse aircon got cleaned on Tuesday the 2nd not sure they are going to get the rest done.
I’ve ordered new binoculars for this boat too, the current ones are cactus!
The water filters in the wheelhouse haven’t been replaced in a long time, I’ve ordered some this week. Water taste is pretty average, I’ve been using my own jug. Also galley at midship has no filters fitted at all, make sure crew doesn’t use it for drinking, it’s disgusting. MRF is in to get filters put in but they haven’t approved it yet.
We filled out fresh water to the top and realised water gauges are faulty, they go up to 120 when full and after a little while they go back down to 60-70 %, mrf is in to get them recalibrated.
Got an email on Monday from Willie that John Wornall will be onboard for training Tuesday and Wednesday, I did everything I could on Tuesday and got his paperwork done but couldn’t get drills done with all the handover things we had to do as well.
On Tuesday the 2nd we were meant to do an extra run in the morning but we had a power conditioner failure and 2 mains went on limp mode, we had to go back to the marina and engineers replaced all power conditioners, boat running fine in the afternoon runs.
Stbd helm station steering mount moves around a bit, the screws are not holding it in place anymore, Mrf is in.
As far as Spirit goes we did drill assessment with Graeme and we realised that with the new chart sistem there isn’t a MOB button, MRF has been submitted.
Sorry that there are a lot of issues to look after still, we did everything we could with such a small time to look after it and not being able to do anything in the weekends except the last one.
Hope we get Spirit back soon!
Regards,
Ale.
