Hi John,
boat has been running ok (as much as it can anyway considering all the problems it has :-) ).
There are a few emails flagged for you to read:
- radio reporting on 13 at RG Tanna,
- daily trip log when vessel not operational,
- supplies req. issues ( problems with supplies requests, the items that we put down in the drop boxes are not coming out once submitted, so Willie has requested that we also write the items down into the general comments, have a look at email),
- medivac procedure for QGC and GLNG,
- MOT after hours emergency access,
- wearing of PFD’s,
- 2 person lift for gangways,
- servicing of working at heights equipment procedure,
- Canaipa genset fuel transfer procedure,
- incident reporting priority,
- daily log PreStart checks,
- engine room fan operational check.
See also email from Kimmo and Willie (30/01/2019) about a supplies request made from you guys, I think Nathan requested a “test tape 25mm” they didn’t know what you were after so they didn’t supply it.
On my first day I did the inspection of the vessel hull as per the pre-start requirements and found a couple of scratches on the STBD side stern of the vessel, didn’t know if they were old or not as I haven’t worked here for a while so I reported them in an email (30/01/2019).
Sullage gauge has been recalibrated last week and seems to be ok now, goes up gradually, just keep an eye on it and see how you go.
We scrubbed the all boat including the roof at the end of the swing and the roof vinyl is dropping down a white colour that stained really badly all the windows, we re-scrubbed them all the best we could so if you see any marks you know what is from, I spoke with Willie and Rob about it and see if they can re-wrap the vinyl on the roof as well when the vessel goes down to Brisbane.
I’ve ordered some stickers 2 weeks ago to replace some of the faded signs around the vessel (there is an email sent to Kimmo with all the details), they haven’t arrived yet. Not sure when the boat goes down for the refit and if they will replace all vinyl, thinking that maybe we should hold onto them for now? See what you reckon.
New defibrillator onboard.
Section 6 of the SMS has been replaced entirely, only changes are the procedure for switching on and off the Navigation System and crew positions for embarking and disembarking, Willie and Graeme were onboard to assess this and they requested a deckhand to be outside on top of the stairs when disembarking at QC4, this is to prevent and stop people to walk down the stairs while talking on their phone. Also a note has been added where crew are allowed to sit down during the voyages to allow them to rest providing that they do keep their eyes on passengers and ARE NOT ON THEIR PHONES.
PORT genset still running a bit rough at times, engineers made aware of this.
We changed the stern line at GL3 because it was a little bit too short and with the wind pushing us off the dock it was slipping out due to not enough wraps around the cleat.
Monday they fitted the flashing light for the shore power, it has been connected to the STBD FWD main engine ignition. We were concerned with having the light flashing for half an hour during prestarts so we came up with the plan of having the light plugged on Stbd side and start PreStart always on Port side, that way we also don’t have the problem of the alarms going off in the Kamewa controls, and the light will start flashing only at the end of the prestarts when we are ready to switch on the Genset and remove shore power. They will make a modification to the SMS about this.
Other than this I don’t have other things to report. Feel free to give me a call on Wednesday if you need any more informations. Hope you have a good swing.
Regards,
Ale.
