G'day Dan and Kev,
A good swing had by myself and no less than 8 or 9 different deckies! (Getting good at doing drills...!)
A few items to note:
1. All machinery and electrics are running 100% at time of handover. Port main engine thermostat was replaced this swing and unfortuately maintenance doesnt have the corect tools to suck out coolant circuit for the D13s which made for a fun 40L of coolant to suck out and flush from the bilge! Shaun did his best to catch some but it was fairly difficult. at 2050-2100rpm you should see a consistent 85 degree coolant running temperature. (This is usually where I'll drive the boat depending on tide and load, big numbers over 85 pax you'll need a bit more to push her up onto the plane!) Port transmission cooler also cleaned at this time. Was quite clean.
2. Charts updated to latest NTM.
3. See flagged emails, especially one about the James Grant Maintenance Day 30/1/19.
4. All the usual bits and pieces have been looked after on board including detailed wheelhouse, scrub down, scrub floors, vacuum seats, detail inside and out, toilets etc. etc. etc., had a good session in engine rooms to bring them back to acceptable and vacuumed out bilges. Fixed a small raw water leak on port exhaust and flushed salt from bilge. There was about 30L of salt water in port midships voids that have also been removed ashore and flushed and lanolined. Please let me know of any issues or areas you think we can improve or that we missed for next time.
5. Full as possible of fuel and fresh, sullage empty.
6. A few stores are running low but please see flagged email to Kimmo in sent items that shows what has been ordered. Check up in roof before ordering stores as there are some goods up there.
7. Had a bit of an audit on mooring lines at all our docking locations and replaced a number of lines and replaced tag lines on all springs / eyed lines. The only one we didn't get to is the bow line at GL4 on outside berth that could use replacement soon. Have ordered 6m of line to replace if you get the chance.
8. Fridge and microwave cleaned and disinfected.
9. All MPM up to date as at 28/1/19.
10. Shane Francis from Santos is in the process of sorting out WiFi issues for Santos’s router onboard and it is currently out of action if any passengers ask. He may have a new router to put where the screws are on the wall on stbd side of wheelhouse rear wall. Power goes through wheelhouse window to where microwave plugs in.
11. No urgent MRFs or Stores, enough onboard to see you through to Thursday arvo's delivery.
12. Have printed and stuck up a Compass Bearing card to make Deviation Checks (daily) a bit easier and more thorough. One error on the top line which you’ll no doubt pick up. Have asked for a new one to be printed with correct figure of 299.2 degrees magnetic.
13. Replaced some vinyl wrap on the stbd side of vessel that was flaking off. I haven't put any new marks on the hull this swing, suggest you take photos start and end of swing as I do to cover your backside.
14. Note 0620 run is on demand and will leave between 0615 and 0640 depending on handover of crews and ships. Check with supervisor or PIC to ensure no one is left behind. Clue - check what you take over on the 1740 the night before. Rarely get passengers on the 1610 unless there is a ship in and then it’s only occasional.
15. All ships documents should be easy to find. Let me know if you can’t find anything you need.
16. Hand soap has been going off before it’s used therefore we have only been topping up to half way in new dispensers.
17. Please ensure all air conditioner units are switched off for a minimum of two minutes before changing from shore to ships power or vice versa.
18. If sullage gets over 25% and it’s rough the smell comes up the sinks so best to discharge.
As always give me ahoy, preferably after 0630, with any pressing questions.
Safe swing to you both.
Highest regards,
Tony
