Nathan Raphael handover notes (relieving nightshift master) 18/8/15 - 2/9/15
* refuelling requires booking through GPC see email from D Bennett 21/8/15. I have had a booking that is only up until the 1/9/15 so you will have to book your own times. Please note that riverside only have one vessel on the run now, (Mandalay) they run 20 hrs a day and have a permanent booking for the outside western end service jetty @ 2200hrs Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday. They usually get in a little earlier however about 2145 hrs. Also the fuel card machine prints incorrect time on receipt.
* SMS manual has been updated and requires all crew to sign and acknowledge contents.
* there is now a Blue Arrow Manual onboard in the manuals box as there was not one on the vessel when I needed it.
* the mechanical problems for nightshift consisted of port jet bucket froze and couldn't be operated with emergency or main controls. It was a random fault and come good and then fault again. Shaun Mann replaced potentiometer on jet control unit and all working well since 24/8/15
* The genset sea strainer has been blocking up on a daily basis since 25/8/15 with a lot of weed and leaves present in the harbour. Most times the valve is also blocked and have been using steel 6mm spike ( this spike is located on the port lower luggage rack) to free up debris and on one occasion required fire hose also to back flush. Have had a confined space entry permit open and using entry/exit section each night. This permit will be closed by myself prior to leaving the vessel. Please note genset has never overheated. Please note the first time I entered the port mid void to remove debris from strainer there was about 150 lts of saltwater in the bilge it appears that the strainer lid was mounted incorrectly. Has been ok since I have been pulling it on and off. Freshwater was hosed through void and pumped out to prevent corrosion on a couple of occasions.
* have been back flushing jets every time strainer is cleaned out
* 3 monthly checks were due on 2/9/15 these have been done and submitted, so you didn't get tasked soon as joining vessel.
* Torresian crew are rostered to complete crib room duties for week commencing 7/9/15
* port main has been up to 82 degrees with full load on and back at 79 degrees most other times when empty.
* verbal with shore based engineers re electrical inspection due in September and was told that these flash up on their system no need to put MRF in apparently.

Handover notes by S.Wolff
Nathan has brought up most things in his comants above. Other things I can think of are: the boat has been washed inside and out. The 2 hydraulic cylinders in port engine room on jet unit have been changed out. Have placed stores order for this week. I have closed all MRF'S that have been completed on vessel. Toilets all blocked up on Sunday the 30th have been fine since being unblocked. To unblock the toilets you need 3 people each with a plunger and plunger all 3 toilets at the same time. We have ordered 2 more plungers with stores order for when it happens again. All the normal oil and coolant leaks on mains and gear boxes are still there. Had divers clean the bottom of torresian in the marina on our second maintenance day.
PLEASE NOTE TIME TABLE FOR TORRESIAN RUNS HAVE CHANGED SINCE FREEDOM MONARCH HAS GONE SO PLEASE CHECK NEW SCHEDULE.
