Hi Wolffy and Trish,
Trust you had a relaxing off swing, hope that you're both keeping well!
A fairly busy swing was had by myself and Ryan, plenty of jobs and a few items to note.
1. Boat overall is running well, no issues with main engines or genset. Port M/E coolant level may look low on dipstick but I've filled it up above the level it is twice and it just uses coolant till it gets back to this level then stabilises once more. You can go ahead and add some more if you are uncomfortable with the current level. Hasn't set off any alarms for me.
2. Genset has, in Shaun's words been "pimped" (in reference to the Pimp my Ride show no doubt...!). The boys have done a heap of work to it and it is running like a dream. Check it out! Doesn't leak oil at the moment but keep an eye on it.
3. Sullage gauge has been replaced and now works. Full is 80%, don't let it get above this.
4. Have been experiencing an irregular fault with the stbd m/e rpm, seems like the throttle potentiometer might be on it's way out. The revs sometimes fluctuate +-50 rpm. Have submitted MRF and notified Shaun. I think he is looking at a new unit.
5. In the last 3 days we have: Done a full scrub down and polished tyre marks off hull, scrubbed floors, disinfected and cobra coated all seats, done full window and sill detail, mopped wheelhouse, detailed wheelhouse and helm instruments, fully detailed the dunny, tidied and cleaned stores closet, bunkered fuel, filled fresh and pumped poo, cleaned fridge and microwave, cleaned major oil off engine blocks and changed all soaker pads in engine rooms, vacuumed bilges, done weekly and two weekly maitenance. Probably a few other things but just can't remember... should make it nice for you guys to swing on and take it easy for the first few days.
6. No urgent MRFs outstanding.
7. When you clean the starboard side strainer massage the valve into place thoroughly as it was having trouble sealing properly. I've been exercising these valves every couple of days as they are starting to stick a bit.
8. All machinery related fluids are within acceptable levels.
One negative thing we need to discuss mate... The engine rooms we received on handover were a bit of a concern, particularly the port side. The port side had apparently had a thermostat changed on it whilst you were on swing. When I did prestarts after getting the boat from Mick McDonald (I was on Duffy for a few days) there was still around 5L of coolant in the bilge. A great deal of the coolant was dried up on the soaker pads and had stuck them to the floor of the engine room which meant we had to soften them with boiling water and degreaser before getting them up off the floor. This wasn't very fun first day back on board. I have marked the pads we changed out with a star emblem and the date so we can keep a track of what work has been completed in the engine rooms in the future. If you don't have time to clean up this sort of job before leaving the vessel please ensure that the Master you hand over to is asked to do it before handing it over. Please give me a call with any concerns with this. She is all good to go now.
Hoping you have a safe and productive swing mate - get in touch with any issues.
Cheers,
Tony and Ryan.
