Welcome back on swing,
Vessel is running well, uneventful swing.
> ESA are booked to do the fire equipment checks on Friday the 5th @ 0715. See flagged email.
> We did have flushing issues with the Ladies toilet but looks like maintenance have soughted it out.
> Shorepower at CP3 has been tripping out with those stinking hot days , so just have to manage the load. It has tripped shore side in the circuit breaker control box that we can't get into at times ( email our Gladstone operations , they will contact the island) and other times it has tripped at the vessel shorepower circuit breaker under the stairs . All random just depends on the conditions how many and what AC's are running.
Have a great swing,
Ross, Amber, Liam and Fiona.
FYI
lithium bank 1 runs both port air cons and all other 240 outlets (GPO's, fans, fridge etc)
lithium bank 2 runs stbd aft and wheelhouse air con's
lithuim bank 3 runs stbd fwd and atrium aircon's
Running the shore power at night to avoid tripping, i have been spreading the load over the 3 banks. So letting bank 1 just run the gpo's etc and running 1 aircon on each 2 and 3 banks eg, atrium and stbd aft. This has worked well and hasn't tripped.
If running just the one lead we have found that if you run 3 aircons and they all kick in together at the same time it's enough of a power spike to trip a breaker. Especially if you are running the atrium air con as it's a bigger unit and draws more power. If charging through the day and want to run all the aircons, plug in both leads.
It is proceedure to run both both leads. A remember that the whole victron system (all 240v power) shuts down when the battery hits 10%. This does not effect anything operationally with the vessel, only the 240 volt system so aircons, fridge etc. engine room fans are powered by the starter bank and everything else is 24volt.
A suggestion for dayshift crew on the hot days in summer, after about 1430-1500 the solar really drops out fast and it's right on our busy part of the day, instead of trying to adjust aircons to save power and stress about keeping the boat cool and have enough battery, running the generator from 4-6pm just removes any worry and you can run the aircons cold and keep the punters happy! Gene has asked that we run the generator more so it helps with that too.
Jets got serviced 15/11. This stopped the alarms that were sounding from time to time (jet bearing oil temp etc)
new handles on doors.
Reminder to make sure the fan under the dash is on especially through the day (turns on from GPO under dash) keep an eye on these temps (levels on serbo screen)
Little coolant leaks are getting fixed possibly this weekend ( just a loose hose clamp but hard to get to, very minor)
There is still a temporary water pipe fix stbd aft void (goes through the void, hose instead of pipe) this does need to be rectified, maintenance are aware but remind them if you get the chance.
Both shore power leads at cp3 have been test and tagged.
Another little fyi, be careful of charger cords, radio cord etc resting on or touching the serbo screen. The cord taps away at the touch screen and can go into the system turning different settings and modes on and off.
Have a good swing, Liam. I have attached a little mud map I drew up in Brisbane when I had the electrical team explaining the Goodna system to us. Take it or leave it, thiught it might help when explaining the system when training.
