Welcome back Anne Marie,
Vessel has been running well and is operational.
Due to the service wharf out of service on Tuesday 19th we had to bunker fuel on the Monday 18th so it's not quite as full as usual for your first day of swing sorry.
There was an unfortunate incident on the parangool this swing resulting in a crew member loosing the tips of two fingers in the fwd spring line. As a result a direction was issued by Willie to add a fixed eye tag line loop on the fixed eye of the fwd springs of all vessels on all pontoons. Once again there was no consultation on this direction and some of us masters have raised a few hazards that this may cause such as the deckhand placing the tag loop on the bollard by mistake and creating a pinch point with another fixed eye on a fixed eye.
We did have a near miss with the fwd spring when departing QC4 were the deckhand attempted to throw the spring onto the hanging chain when departing however the tag loop on the end of the fixed eye got caught on the aft bollard at midship. The deckhand then had to free the loop and try again to throw the line onto the pontoon. I called Sean to inform management that there was a near miss with this tag loop and I submitted an incident report as a near miss.
Please discuss this with your crew and be vigilant that this may happen, it's happened to us twice now and will happen again if there not careful. Sean has agreed that this new tag loop may not be suitable for ALL vessels on ALL pontoons so hopefully management reviews this direction.
The vessels stores is sufficient at the moment so I have not placed an order.
Vessel has been scrubbed down top to bottom inside and out so I hope the handover clean is satisfactory, we tried our very best.
Hooe you have an enjoyable and safe swing,
Regards
Will
