19/04/24 genset failure, excitation circuit windings failure. Hire genset installed 20/04 and maintenance has informed us could possibly be 3 weeks from the 19th until we see the original genset reinstated. There is an email outlining the start up and shutdown procedure. Brody is looking into the fuelling of the genset as it stands now we are fuelling up the genset at the fill point on the genset as the ships fuel lines to the genset have been blanked off. Have been unable to identify the tank capacity but after 14 hours of run time the genset has 28% remaining in the tank. At this point it seems it will need to be refuelled on a daily basis.
Genset operation procedure
Start up
1. Ensure all AC units are shut down and isolated and all other 240 volt appliances are off.
2. Ensure shore power/Genset selector switch in STBD engine room cabinet remains on the shore power selector.
3. Genset start up, check oil level stbd side check coolant level expansion tank port side check belts and battery, turn on battery isolator located stbd side
4. Control panel at front of genset ensure AC breaker is off at 3 phase plug, turn key to preheat for several seconds then to run to start up genset.
5. Turn off shore power at SLB post breaker remove shore power cable from vessel shore power inlet, insert shore power cable from ships genset
6. On genset turn on breaker that has cable attached.
7. Proceed to start up all AC units and other 240v equipment.
8. Shutdown procedure same but in reverse
9. It seems the genset will need refuelling on a daily basis as after 14 hours of run time there is 28% remaining. Maintenance have indicated they may utilise Jerry cans to fill genset as we have roughly worked out it holds approximately 55ltrs.

24/4/24 Discussed with maintenance and crew will refuel on return to marina at service wharf after pm runs , no fuel bookings have been made for Monday 29/4/24 onwards
24/4/24 Refuelled genset at pump 5 (low flow) and I recommend to remove strainer at filler pipe to deliver the fuel as it will flood back out the filler and replace strainer after filling . Of note the genset fuel guage was showing a fuel level of 2 lights out of 7 prior to refueling and we filled to max with 27.3 lts
25/4/24 MRF 9617 submitted as follows "(The GPO for the stbd battery charger in the engine room is faulty , have squeezed the pins on the 2 pin CTek charger plug together to create better contact on the vertically mounted GPO and charger is operational again)"
26/4/24 MRF 9621 submitted as follows "(The stbd fire / bilge pump has a noisy bearing when the clutch is engaged and running pump , still serviceable at this stage)"
The void hatch from stbd void 1 and 2 was found lying in bilge , there is water in both bilges void 1 + 2 that we will endeavour to be removed
27/4/24 Removed 40 lts of water from stbd void 1 + 2 , washed down walls of voids and bilges with truckwash hosed out , vacuumed dry
28/4/24 Removed water and sullage residue from overflow in the pastπ© ,,, from stbd void 3 + 4 , washed down walls of voids , tanks and bilges , vacuumed dry
28/4/24 MRF 9631 submitted for filing cabinet draws unable to be secured , using paper coffee cups folded up to secure draws
stores order started on post it note , that will need to be submitted Monday 29/4/24 or no later than midday Tuesday 30/4/24 cheers
There is a power board in the filing cabinet that was missed at test and tag , so if you see Adam on the dock at some stage he may be able to complete, we are not using powerboard for anything at the moment , also a white + an orange extension lead in stores cupboard were also missed and are due April 2024 , I have also used the waste oil drum onboard and there is nothing onboard at the moment, so maybe ask the fitters if they can bring a couple down that can be stowed aft void stbd side π
