Joined vessel 3/2/24
* There is no internet connection available onboard, have been hotspotting my personal phone data to operate the vessels ipad
* Port side of hull has some scratches and scuffs prior to gladstone operations have taken photos upon joining vessel
* A/C condenser unit in port hull that provides air to 4 of the lower deck vents is u/s, have left off on the circuit breaker board with a label attached at c/b
* 1 x Carly float Hydrostatic release expired 10/2023 1 x Carly float release due 2/2024, 1 x 6 man liferaft hydrostatic release due 2/2024, these were changed out by maintenance 8/2/2024
* First aid kit was last serviced 3/2023, Hannah has gone through and serviced 8/2/2024 and there are some items expired that she has on order and is noted inside first aid kit
* The overboard discharge valves for bilge pumps in every compartment were open when we joined vessel with the control panel in the wheelhouse set to auto, with a 240v bilge pump plugged into a GPO with the switch turned on. The engine rooms also had a DC bilge pump with the switch set to auto in the engine room with discharge valve open......All bilge pumps have been tested and working as well as bilge high water alarms........Our crew have closed off all bilge overboard discharge valves including DC bilge pump. The DC bilge pump has been set to off position locally in each engine room. The 240v bilge pumps are plugged in to the GPO in each compartment with the switch at GPO turned OFF. The control panel in the wheelhouse have all bilge pumps set to the manual position. If required to pump out a compartment the overboard discharge valve is to be opened , the pump is switched on at the GPO and discharge of water is achieved
* AIS is not available on chart plotters, there is the ability to enter pax numbers and destination and operate the AIS universal unit as we are visible to other vessels...The radar has the ability to display triangles of an AIS target however no information can be sourced from chartplotters and the targets (triangles) on the radar are not where they are supposed to be ....for example when a vessel comes up behind directly astern to overtake,,,, the triangle on radar display showing target, when it should be directly astern of us on the same course,,, the radar screen shows triangle (AIS target about 20 degrees to port behind us... ???? The radar echo however reads correct relative to our ships head
Information of vessels name by utilising the function in the AIS panel that shows vessels in the closest vicinity by distance and bearing can be obtained by selecting the correct display on the universal AIS panel which is the one which we are all used to, entering our pax numbers and destination (I'm sure you will work it out) as this panel reads the bearings and distance of targets correctly
Have set up lines and gangways at GL3 and QC4 and commenced operations covering Cap Spirit Monday 5/2/24
The gangway at GL3 had Teflon strips added 4/2/24 where the gangway fits in through stbd aft door to avoid damage to the vessel, we have been securing the vessel with a fwd spring secured Stbd fwd bow initially than remaining mooring lines attached , crew to monitor gangway vigilantly while pax boarding/disembarking
The QC4 facility has mooring lines set up for both sides of the pontoon, we have been using the port side to berth bow in (Eastern berth) since commencing operations utilising fwd spring to berth initially and once headline and aft spring is secured, coming astern on after spring to secure stern line firmly and the gangway has been setup to be secured to vessel and removed from vessel without the crew stepping onto the dock , There is a safety step on the dock that can be utilised if berthing Stbd side to to send a crew ashore to spin the gangway around and setup if required to utilise Stbd side to berth (western side), doesn't take too long to reverse gangway if required ( when the freedom monarch is finished for covering spirit , the pulley system that is fitted to the QC4 gangway is to be returned Willie Ewins please ) I would also suggest when vessel comes off hire to remove the sealink SMS and separate sign off sheet sleeve + the sealink safety DVD compact disc to be kept in the office if the vessel is hired by sealink in the future 👍
I have left a handover report for Capricornian Spirit last day served on vessel 3/2/24 detailing any items that have been removed from the spirit and placed onboard freedom monarch
A UHF radio that is in the wheelhouse that is to be returned to the office when finished with freedom monarch operations, is used to contact or receive communications from GL3 security on ch:19 . This channel is also utilised for barge operations by GL3 security . The telephone number for GL3 security is 0499 333 659 if required.
Cap Spirit has been issued with a new set of PFDs x 5 prior to departing for Urangan slipping , see flagged email 6/2/24 . The old PFDs x 4 that were on spirit, are now on freedom monarch and will need to be returned to office when finished with freedom monarch operations
I have added an additional dock fender in cap spirits berth in marina to facilitate the spray chine port fwd hull on freedom monarch remaining clear of dock
10/2/24 fuel gauges fwd state 55% port and Stbd , however when I took an ullage of the port fuel tank, it would suggest the fuel tank has @ 40% of fuel in tank , I haven't checked the Stbd , anyhow refuelling once a week will keep well within limits I would believe
The engine hours for the mains have been taken off the engine room panels daily , as the owners service records would suggest so, not the wheelhouse tachometer readings which were used for the voyage from Whitsundays to Gladstone .. I am not sure what is used to activate engine hours as we only seem to clock up 2 - 3 hrs per day and the engines run a bit longer than that ?
The port fuel tank compartment 240volt void fan had the bearing fail 9/2/24 and we have sourced a spare one from onboard spares and fitted, have requested for test and tag of plug in lead, also requested spare fan be purchased to replace the one we took from onboard spares and maintenance will order one from WA I believe, so when received it can be stowed up forward in the hull with all the other spares onboard
* conversed with G Mitchell 8/2/24 and forecast was to have spirit back here by 28/2/24
* 14/2/24 The last couple of days the shore power has tripped on dock circuit breaker for earth leakage, overnight and also when on crew break, not sure what is doing it , because it comes good again? It is a bit random. So, be aware the fridge may perish any valuable items
* Discharging C class treated sewerage in permitted area refer to SMS and sewerage treatment manual for Charlets / information on class C treated sewerage, Have been using salt water for toilets and discharging vicinity of Geoff Price Beacon S 23 52.4 E 151 20.8, I had intentions of discharging Sullage on Monday 19/2/24 prior to handing over on Tuesday
* I have placed a 32mm rope on the dock at GL3 as a back up , the existing line , lines the gangway at the stern spot on , if you don't think the forward spring is suitable please feel free to replace or adjust as you see fit
* I have booked fuel for Tuesday 20/2/24 outside western end @ 1330 hrs, I have obtained approval for crew to go on break early and return from break early to facilitate refuelling task as the tide is too high to refuel after am runs
* master role finished 15/2/24 handing over to next master, hope these notes are of assistance as they are all relevant 👍
