Joined vessel 17/8/23
* 17/8/23 port engine room fire alarm faulted whilst underway, reset and came good ? Port engine flashed up a couple of times with an active fault whilst at cruise speed and was only displaying for a couple of seconds and it was ???? too high , so I didn't get to see the code and there are no faults recorded in the diagnostic panel * 18/8/23 new fire certificates supplied to vessel and superseded documents disposed to document bin in stores locker
* 19/8/23 charts updated to ntm 704(T)2023 and 705(T)2023 referring to military exercise eastwards of facing island completed
* 20/8/23 Main engines had 250 hr service @ Port 2750 hrs, stbd 28238 hrs and mid fwd a/c filter housing corner piece resecured
* 22/8/23 Port main engine had injectors replaced and the engine load and fuel rate has come right down is at the same rate as stbd main and vessel running smoother now 👍 The boost is slightly lower now also
* Every few days or so for the duration of my swing on, randomly, the fire alarm panel in wheelhouse gives a fault alarm either in the port or the stbd Eng rm. Isolating the alarm and resetting and it comes good ? See handover notes before I joined vessel. There was an MRF closed out 1/8/23 regarding this. I have submitted MRF # 8985 high priority 5/9/23 as it is occurring frequently in the couple of days prior to my MRF request to a point where I can't reset the alarm and the vessel is now running underway with the stbd fire alarm isolated
* The fwd stbd window has had a couple of latches that secure it closed busted and broken in the past so if opening window please take care not to use the latch as a stopper when sliding it open 👍 * 25/8/23 Stbd main engine has had coolant expansion tank fitted to stbd engine room hopefully to stop coolant spilling into bilge, haven't managed to have it working correctly yet and will endeavour to sort it out , so when checking coolant when engine is cold the coolant can't be seen in the header tank and expansion tank shows full? So far it isn't sucking out of the expansion tank to the header tank when it cools back down? I give the stbd engine room a full wash down as the engine and bilges were pink just like the colour of coolant
* 26/8/23 There is a dredging project at Fisherman's Landing commencing 0001 hrs 28/8/23 through to 2359 hrs 30/9/23 enforced 24 hours 7 days a week with a restricted zone with a floating pipeline and a directive from the harbour master. MSQ ntm 378(T) + 379(T) state relevant information and chartlet. I have added waypoints to the chartplotter and have a zone shown by skull and crossbones waypoints. The zone impedes on our usual transit route for APLNG transfers. As of 25/8/23 The ntms as stated above have been published in the wrong area namely Capricorn coast (outside pilotage area) I have completed a chart correction on our paper charts MSQ 379 (T) I have also moved the waypoint for our passage plan so it doesn't run through restricted zone. The Hydro notice for this NTM 755(T)2023 was issued 1/9/23 and charts updated 2/9/23. More information can be obtained in the NTM folder regarding vessels and contact radio channels regarding this operation at fisherman's landing
* 26/8/23 Maintenance changed out V belts on port main engine and fabricated belt guard to stop it rubbing on the V Belts
* 28/8/23 The most northernmost and westernmost Targinie swing basin yellow buoys TSB5 + TSB7 have been moved in behind FL5 near the Mac ramp at fisherman's landing whilst the dredge Brisbane and Pacific Titan bed levelling do their thing, so you won't see them on approach to CP1 coming from the marina in the dark hours
* 28/8/23 The port tank void had a fair bit of water in it and I removed about 60 lts prior to surveyor attending and vacuumed dry and it stayed dry, so I figure someone has overflowed it, with that in mind please follow notes on autopilot cover regarding filling freshwater tank to 50% only 👍
* 29/8/23 In Water surveyor attended vessel in marina whilst crew on break, Brody said it went alright, seal up bulkhead penetrations on port side, remove salt crust from port void 2, and void 6 port and Stbd (tiller flat) , tidy up some exhaust lagging done on 3/9/23
* 29/8/23 The stbd nav panel was swapped out for James grant old one after they received a replacement. The radar is now available on the stbd nav panel and the port where the sounder plugs in is u/s so the sounder is still not operational on this vessel. I do believe we are getting a replacement nav panel and this one we have at the moment is for the interim, so the mounting may be temporary and it is an older type unit
* The vessel has been cleaned thoroughly inside and out 2/3/23 + 3/9/23 + 4/9/23 + 5/9/23, the coal dust has been giving us a hard time so it doesn't take long to look dirty again
* I have ordered a stack of MSDS sheets that are over 5 years issue and Pete Abraham is looking after the hardcopies to be provided to vessel
* Willie Ewins is on leave 5/9/23 - 25/9/23 Flagged email 5/9/23 stating to call operations duty manager or email Rob Mitchell or Emma Seymour
* Bye for now ✌️
