We had an issue with the Genset stopping pumping water randomly, lucky we heard the water stop pumping because the light stayed green so had we been underway we would’ve have noticed. Shut down and started back up, no power and red light on. Called Brody and there is a switch on the Genset (where the start up switches are etc above the alternator) it’s a single switch on the side by itself up the back of the box, it is a breaker switch for the Genset, switched this back on and all worked again. Keep an ear and an eye out for this happening again, it may have just been a once off but could have resulted in a cooked generator. If it happens again report immediately, it will be a job for aces not shore bases crew.
we have noticed the vessel ‘hunting’ at times, (Rev’s Going up and down by itelf) it’s only happened a couple of times but something to watch out for. If it does it again try catch it on film and MRF it, most likely injectors.
There is a new chart folder and NTM folder on board, really good new system. Check flagged emails to see the new process.
15/8 Last day of swing... coolant alarm sounded when berthing, checked coolant and it had dropped to half on the header tank. Topped it up and Called maintenance, did one more run and again the alarm sounded when berthing. Header half full again. Rang maintenance and drove back to marina on one engine. Looks like a blown head gasket and engine has to come out. Finished off swing on Canaipa.
