IMS9.7 Inappropriate Behaviour Policy

SeaLink is committed to providing a workplace that is free from bullying and workplace harassment. SeaLink is also committed to providing access or assistance to all employees to address concerns related to harassment.  Bullying and Workplace harassment is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

A person is subjected to bullying or workplace harassment if the person is subjected to repeated behaviour, other than behaviour amounting to sexual harassment, by a person, including the person’s employer or a co-worker or group of co-workers of the person that

1.    is unwelcome and unsolicited;
2.    the person considers being offensive, intimidating, humiliating or threatening; and
3.    a reasonable person would consider to be offensive, humiliating, intimidating or threatening.

It is important to recognise that behaviour or comments that may not offend one person may be unwelcome or offensive to another person.

SeaLink requires all workers to behave responsibly by complying with this policy, not tolerate unacceptable behaviour, and maintain privacy during the investigation.

SeaLink encourages individuals who experience harassment to inform the alleged harasser that the behaviour is unwelcome, unacceptable and contrary to policy, and ask that the behaviour stop.  If it is not possible to confront the alleged harasser, or if this course of action fails to stop the behaviour, then the matter should be brought to the attention of a supervisor/manager or human resources.

When a complaint has been lodged, SeaLink will take action to ensure that the harassment ceases, or, if evidence suggests that it did not occur, that the reputation(s) of the relevant individuals are protected.

Disciplinary action will be taken by SeaLink against anyone who is found to be in breach of this policy.
