
IMS9.4.6.10 CCTV and DVR Operation Procedure
1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to describe the methods used by SeaLink uses ensure the integrity of the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Digital Video Recording (DVR) Systems.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure is applicable to all Vessels and Establishments where CCTV and DVR systems are installed.

5.0 REQUIREMENTS
5.1 The footage recorded on these cameras can be used as legal evidence hence these checks MUST be carried out and recorded in the ships log daily.
The following steps are to be followed at the start of each day
- After starting up the CCTV system check that there are two green lights present on the DVR unit and check that no alarms are present.
- Click the menu icon on the toolbar and input 4 digit code
- Click the search icon
- Select the “search by calendar” function
- Select the previous day to check playback
- Select hour and minute and watch a couple of minutes of playback and check that ALL cameras are functioning. Any abnormalities MUST be reported to a shore based Engineer immediately via phone and MRF so repairs can be carried out. The DVR’s on the SeaLink vessels can vary slightly in operation, if you are unsure of how to operate the system please clarify with the Shore Based Engineers.
- Return system to main screen
- Check that the correct amount of cameras for the vessel are displaying and recording. You will see a red R or red box in the top corner of each camera box on the screen.
- After the CCTV check is complete the person who carried out the check MUST record the time of the check and their initials in the ships log daily.
5.2 To shut down system.
The following steps are to be followed at the End of each day
1. Select Menu bar
2. Select Setup Menu
3. Select the Cogs icon
4. Click “shutdown” and wait for system to power down.
Incorrect shutdown of the system will cause the hard drive to crash and the loss of all data.
